Origin of College – Due to the shortage of medical facilities in the regions in & around Belgaum, KLE Society with its magnanimous intention initiated the setting up of a medical college and hospital in the year 1963. The responsibility of managing Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College was in the able hands of the first Dean Late Dr B S Jirge.
